Metropolitan Commuter Transportation Mobility Tax (MCTMT) Definition
Employers with calendar quarter payrolls of over $312,500 and conducting business within the metropolitan commuter transportation district (MCTD) are required to pay the Metropolitan Commuter Transportation Mobility Tax (MCTMT).
MCTMT Extended Definition
The MCTD (Metropolitan Commuter Transportation District) includes New York City, and the counties of Suffolk, Nassau, Rockland, Putnam, Orange, Westchester and Dutchess. Certain self-employed individuals and businesses conducting business within the MCTD are required to pay what is colloquially referred to as ‘mobility tax’, and officially known as the Metropolitan Commuter Transportation Mobility Tax (MCTMT).
