Jury duty pay is a legal requirement in some states where employers are expected to pay employees on jury duty full-time wages.

Jury duty pay is a form of income protection in which employers in some states are required to pay their employees for their time serving jury duty. These states include New York, Colorado, Alabama, Massachusetts, Tennessee, and Connecticut. Depending on the state, employers could be obliged to pay full-time employees regular wages for the first five days of jury duty, and part of the wages thereof. The amount of pay will differ from state to state, and the consequences for failing to pay mandatory jury duty pay also varies. However, states may also excuse employers from jury duty pay if it is found that it can cause financial hardships.
